Casa Bloom
Casa Bloom is a typical moradia of the Algarve, a term often used to refer to an individual house or a local villa.
Inspired by the traditional architecture of the region — characterized by roofs topped with red tiles and houses with thick lime-washed walls — Casa Bloom's exterior architecture reflects the historical but modernized Moorish influence, adapted to the hot and sunny climate of the Algarve.
Inside, the simplicity of the lines is enhanced by accents of color, sometimes pastel, sometimes borrowed from the paintings of Miró, Mondrian, or the interiors of Le Corbusier, evoking modernist, vintage, and Mediterranean references.
The work of the architect Oscar Niemeyer also finds its place through the ceiling elements designed by him in the 1970s, which we have chosen to integrate into the living and bedroom overhead volumes, thus adding a subtle tribute to his work.
Finally, the use of minimalist wooden frames and arrangements perfectly complements the smooth curves of the white-washed built-ins, forming a harmonious and cozy ensemble.

The Entrance & Cinema Room
The entrance and lobby of Casa Bloom embodies an abstract and meditative composition inspired by the Franciscan philosophy inherent in the work of Mexican architect Luis Barragán. Merging vernacular architecture and European modernism, through stripped-down volumes where light and color interact harmoniously. The space exudes a monastic atmosphere bathed in an intimate and soothing zenithal light.
The Living Room
Enveloped in natural light, this sunken living room, nestled below the floor level and adorned with built-in seating, offers a serene retreat. The lowered elevation enhances the perception of spatial volume, fostering an intimate atmosphere ideal for relaxation. Extending the “step-up or down” approach to transitional areas promotes a seamless, fluid transition from one space to the next.
The Kitchen
Inspired by 1950s American kitchens, this modernized version pays special attention to details. The nostalgic kitchen isn't just about collected vintage elements; it seamlessly blends tradition and modernity, combining retro charm with contemporary design for a vibrant atmosphere.
The Dining Room
This sunken dining room, accessed from the upper kitchen, is distinguished by its vintage ceiling elements designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1970s. The wooden furniture and expansive window openings create a welcoming and luminous atmosphere. Nestled in the corner, the fireplace adds a cozy touch for the cold season.
Bedroom n°1
This room, with its earthy tones and serene atmosphere, features a queen-size bed positioned in the center. Facing a recessed window, an arrangement of built-in niches and shelves provides ample storage options. The floor boasts sanded and cerused standing wood planks. Glass porthole doors allow light to filter into the dressing area and adjacent spaces.
Bedroom n°2
With its large glass door leading to the terrace, this second bedroom is a space bathed in light. Under a sloping ceiling, a green staircase inspired by Dutch design leads to a mezzanine hosting a double bed. At the bottom of the staircase, an opening leads to the en-suite bathroom.
Bedroom n°3
The other two bedrooms mirror the design elements of the remaining rooms, featuring expansive windows and wooden doors. The adjoining bathroom is decorated in a pastel blue tiling, bringing more freshness to the space.
The Terrace
With its striped awning that provides comforting shade, perched on the rooftop, the terrace evokes the spirit of the French Riviera. The furniture situated there combines natural wood with the mineral tones of concrete and lime. Benches adorned with cushions offer a relaxing space just steps away from the outdoor shower.
The Garden & the Pool
Scattered with local trees and drought-tolerant plants such as rosemary and lavender, the garden sets place on a hillside facing the surrounding valleys.The terrace adjoining the house offers a seating area comprising low comfortable sofas crafted with natural stone and warm rustic accents. On the North facing side, a flight of concrete steps ascend a terraced garden leading to the pool courtyard. The concrete pool's design, with its elongated shape and proximity to the terraced garden, adds a sense of depth and dimension to the landscape.

The Casa Bloom is a three-level family villa. The ground floor comprises the main living areas: the living rom, kitchen, dining room, and two lounge spaces. Additionally, one bedroom and anothe rlarge ensuite bedroom overlooks the lush garden. In the back garden, a 10 meter-long swimming pool is secretly nested into the trees. Upstairs, one bedroom of which is ensuite with a small private terrace, is distributed along the length of the space. At the center, the staircase leads to a spacious southeast-facing patio with stunning views of the landscaped garden and village heights. On the third floor, perched on the rooftop, a terrace provides comforting shade.
